abstract：

H.265/High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) version 1 was finalized in 2013Q1.  In comparison with H.264/Advanced Video Coding (AVC), H.265/HEVC can reduce 50% data under similar visual quality. The H.265/HEVC format is becoming more and more popular and expected to be the most popular video format in many video applications in one or two years. This talk will introduce the H.265/HEVC standard and compare its performance with previous standards.

Bio：
Yu-Wen Huang received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from National Taiwan University in 2000 and 2004, respectively. He has been with MediaTek since 2005, and now he is a team leader responsible for advanced research on video coding and processing. He and his team made many techniques adopted in the latest video coding standard HEVC, which makes MediaTek become one of the top three industrial contributors. He published the first H.264 encoder chip in ISSCC 2005. He also received the MediaTek Innovation Award in 2013. He is an author and coauthor for 19 journals, 43 conference papers, 50+ patent families, and 200+ standard meeting proposals.
