Abstract:
The development and use of bioinformatics for the cancer therapeutics is important and essential. It has been used to characterize various cancer-related processes. The so-called glycoinformatics, which seeks to understand the structure and function of glycans (polysaccharides), has emerged only recently as a result of technical advances that allowed high-throughput, high-sensitivity analysis of these structurally complex molecules. In this talk, I will use the amplified fragment length polymorphism analysis (AFLP) and statistical cluster analysis of GC-MS linkage data to understand the relationship of genotypes and structural features of Lentinula edodes species. Furthermore, principal component analysis (PCA) and multiple linear regression have been used to identify arabinose, glucose 1→4 linkage, molecular weight about 2700 kDa, and molecular weight around 534 kDa as the significant determinant factors associated with Toll-like receptor-4 (TLR-4) binding activity of immunocyte. It is also interesting to find out that polysaccharide-activated monocytes have the potential to boost the anti-tumor immune response and anti-tumor activity of radiotherapy. The results are believed to have the potential in cancer immunotherapy.
