Abstract
How we do make decisions such as picking between apple and orange in the market, choosing a career (e.g. going to academia or industry), and who to vote for in the coming election? Neurobiologists seek to understand how the brain makes decisions by investigating the computations carried out that serve to guide choices and the neural machinery that implements these computations. In the first half of this talk, I will give an overview on the recent progress of this line of research. I will then focus on how the brain integrates different sources of information, in particular, information coming from prior knowledge and current sensory evidence, when making decisions.
