摘 要:
Biomedical signals are conventionally processed through general-purpose processors due to the high programmability. General-purpose processors provide higher flexibility for implementing any algorithms, however, at the cost of higher power consumption compared with other computing platforms, such as application-specific IC (ASIC). Due to the growing computational complexity of biosignal processing, time- and energy-efficient computing is needed, making flexible, but energy-efficient computing platforms attractive for specific applications. In this talk, we will introduce an energy-efficient biosignal processing platform consisting of a reduced instruction set computer (RISC) core and dedicated accelerators to improve energy efficiency for epileptic seizure detection. An independent component analysis (ICA) accelerator for artifact removal will also be presented. The energy efficiency of the ICA accelerator is maximized through hardware-efficient algorithm design and operation at minimum energy point.
