Abstract:
The wireless biomedical circuits and systems design will be presented in this lecture. Based on the well-development VLSI technology and RFIC/Mixed-signal IC techniques, the RFIC circuits with CMOS process are introduced for home telecare systems as well as a wireless power and data transmission microstimulator are also presented. Moreover, there are many analog front-end circuits including preamplifier, analog filter, and analog-to-digital converter for bio signal acquisition systems, will be introduced. What are the circuit design and technology challenges in meeting biomedical system requirements? The low-power circuits have been implemented in TSMC 0.18-m/0.35-m CMOS process to reveal the design challenges.
Bio:
Shuenn-Yuh Lee was born in Taichung, Taiwan, in 1966. He received the B.S. degree from the National Taiwan Ocean University, Chilung, Taiwan, in 1988, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degree from National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan, in 1994 and 1999, respectively. Since 2002 and 2006, he has been an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor, respectively, at the Institute of Electrical Engineering, National Chung Cheng University, Chia-Yi, Taiwan. where he is currently a Full Professor. His present research activities involve the wireless biomedical circuits and systems design including implantable telemetry device (analog front-end, microstimulator, power management, and micro-controller), low- power bio-signal acquisition system (preamplifier, analog filter, Nyquiste-rate ADC/DAC, and sigma-delta ADC/DAC), and wireless healthcare system (low-power and low-voltage analog front-end and RF front-end integrated circuits). Dr. Lee now is a member of Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS), Circuits and Systems (CAS) Society, Microwave Theory and Techniques (MTT) Society, and Solid-State Circuits (SSC) Society of IEEE. He is also a member of the Institute of Electronics, Information, and Communication Engineers and the Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering.
