MediaTek's first "Genius For Home" competition NTHU EE Prof. Chi-Chun Lee’s Tech-ManGo team receive special award

IC Design Leading company MediaTek held the first "Smart Hometown" digital social innovation competition to encourage participants to solve their hometown problems with technology. It attracted 380 teams and nearly 1,400 people to register. The first one is "Visit APP", which improved the social welfare working process through technology. It solved the problem of traditional manpower shortage, Ming-Kai Tsai, the president of MediaTek, said that 30% of the team used AI artificial intelligence, we could see the future trend of Taiwan's industry and society.

Received the medal from Ming-Kai Tsai, and won the first “Genious For Home” Digital Social Innovation Competition. The team received the Million Champion Award saw the difficulties faced by domestic social workers and developed this “visiting APP”. Through big data and AI matching, they improved the social welfare work process and solve the manpower problem.

Technology can solve people's problems, but also help agriculture solve problems! The team from Kaohsiung used mobile phones and AR augment reality, helped farmers interact with the phytologists to solve the food safety problem. The other group used the neural network to help Pingtung farmers quickly rank the mangos. Both of the group received a special award.

Chi-Chun Lee, a professor of NTHU Electrical Engineering Department, the advisor of the team, who received the special award, said: "It is automatically recognized through a neural network. A mango can now take 0.7 seconds to be well identified."

President Tsai said: "30% have started using AI artificial intelligence technology. From this activity, we can see that this will be a good discovery for the future of Taiwan's industry or the whole society."

MediaTek held the "Genius For Home" competition for the first time to encourage participants to use technology to solve problems in their hometowns and to inspire more unexpected ideas.
