Multi-ported memory is widely used in modern digital systems. Algorithmic multi-ported memory (AMM) is an efficient scheme that composes simple memory modules to support multiple concurrent accesses. The performance of AMM is significantly impacted by the architecture options and design techniques. To attain superior performance, designers need to carefully choose the architectures and properly tradeoff design parameters. In this talk, I will introduce different AMM architectures and imperative design concerns. I will also show a framework to explore different design schemes and reveal insights of various architectures and techniques. A systematic exploration flow will be summarized to facilitate the design and optimization of future algorithmic multi-ported memory.
講員簡歷:
Bo-Cheng Lai received his B.S. degree in electronics engineering from National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan, in 1999. He obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from UCLA in 2003 and 2007, both in electrical engineering. His research area concerns parallel computing, multicore architecture, low power designs, and embedded systems. Dr. Lai received the scholarship from John Deere Foundation in 2003. During his study at UCLA, Dr. Lai won two times DAC (Design Automation Conference) student design contest in 2003 and 2005. From 2007 to 2009, Dr. Lai was with Broadcom Corporation as a staff scientist. Dr. Lai joined National Chiao Tung University in August 2009, where he is currently an associate professor at Institute of Electronics.
